What is a STANDARD RT-PCR
(Polymerase Chain Reaction)
Diagnostic test?
Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests are Health Canada approved devices. RT-PCR tests are used as a qualitative detection of nucleic acid from SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19. Specimen samples are conducted with government approved technologies (nasal swabs) and evaluated through accredited Laboratories licensed under the Laboratory and Specimen Collection Centre Licensing Act and through ISO 15189 (if applicable).

What is a Rapid Antigen Test?
Rapid Antigen tests are screening tools used to assist with the detection of Covid-19. Tests are administered with nasal swabbing and results are immediate (approximately 15-20 minutes). Rapid Antigen tests do not replace the molecular polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) diagnostic test. Rapid tests can be used to detect the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 Antigen in symptomatic and asymptomatic carriers. Positive results should be confirmed with diagnostic RT-PCR testing. All product technologies are approved for use by Health Canada and exceed WHO quality standards.
